Chopin Nocturnes

Chopin Nocturnes

The Nocturnes are arguably the most intimate works of Chopin. Devoid of any show or affectations these miniatures were his diaries which he put in notes, rather than in words. Chopin s Nocturnes, or night songs, are indeed songs for solo piano. In this recording the complete set is presented in chronological rather than usual numerical order to give listener perspective of Chopin's development as a composer. So called Nocturne No. 21 is omitted - Chopin himself never called it a Nocturne and never published it. But the track 11 on disc 2 is a glorious, rarely performed authentic later version of Nocturne Op. 9 No.2a with added coloratura passages, which can be found in Wiener Urtext Edition of these works.
